Lockdown Sockdown KAL!

I thought it was about time that I wrote a little blog post about the fun that is the Lockdown Sockdown! This lockdown has hit me harder than the previous ones. I'm not really sure why, but I think it's partly because it's now January, the weather is bleak in the UK and it just feels endless...

CUE THE SOCKDOWN!

It's time to bring people together, get the community together and focus on something other than doom-scrolling all day. What better way to conquer this than to knit socks??

This is a very casual KAL (knit along) and doesn't have any strict rules. The goal is just to have fun and relax a bit into the comfort of sock knitting (or crochet!) To participate, simply post your pictures of your works in progress (WIPs) and your FOs (finished objects) on Instagram using #LockdownSockdownKAL!

Here's what's allowed:

  • Short socks, long socks, baby socks, child socks, giant socks
  • WIPs are definitely allowed! If you've had a project on the go for a while, this is your invitation to get that WIP off the needles.
  • Crochet socks are allowed! While this is called a KAL, crochet is encouraged.
  • You can participate even if your country/state/city isn't in lockdown!

There's currently no end date for the KAL, because the UK has no end date for this current lockdown... So get your needles and hooks out and let's make some socks!!

UPDATE: The KAL will end of 4th April 2021. To be picked as a winner, fill out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/Jm1UTWZNwZQWGWiB8
